Can you kindly look into providing Chinese Subtitles for BBC Lifestyle and BBC Knowledge currently carried here in Singapore thru Mio TV as soon as possible? Traditional Chinese Characters is fine as we can understand it. Hope to hear your favourable reply. Thanks.
Hi chuppachop. While we do provide Chinese subtitles for BBC Lifestyle and BBC Knowledge, SingTel have chosen not to transmit them. They may be able to give you a reason for this. They can be contacted through their website: http://mio.singtel.com.
Have written to Singtel for their reply and will await their response before I cancelled the subscriptions to your channels - the BBC3 pack.
Most shows have heavy British accents which makes it difficult to understand; same sentiments for those who are not really strong in English but enjoy quality programs....
Hope that you seriously consider the option of moving to Starhub if Singtel insists on not transmitting the Chinese Subtitles.
The BBC3 pack in S'pore cost the same as BBC 5 in Hong Kong but yet we are short-changed of the Chinese Subtitles!
The revert that Singtel has given was "the subtitles are based on content provider".
Had a conversation with them via phone but they insist that BBC Lifestyle and BBC Knowledge do not carry Chinese Subtitles. They claimed that if BBC transmit subtitles, they will definently broadcast it on Mio TV.
I do not know who is right?? Can BBC Global Channels confirm or do anything? I think I will cancel the BBC3 pack channels.
Thank you for your feedback. There are no current plans to introduce subtitles on BBC Knowledge and BBC Lifestyle in Singapore, but we are always looking for ways to enhance our channels in our discussions with SingTel.
Most disappointing to hear there are no such plans. Nontheless, have cancelled the BBC3 pack and mio tv. Per advise of friends, have replaced the knowledge and lifestyle programs from BBC with Discovery Home and Health, Science, Travel and Living & Real Time.
The best part is they all have Chinese Subtitles!
Hoping that BBC can better coordinate with Singtel the next time round. There are viewers who are not strong in English who would like to subscribe to your channels but gets turned off by the lack of Chinese subtitles.
